Contour Thread Lift

The Contour Threadlift approved by FDA in early 2005 is an answer to the vast demand for quick “lunch time” non invasive cosmetic surgeries. Due to ease of procedure, safe effective and natural looking results, contour thread lift has become very popular all over the world. It can be employed for lifting in different parts of the face including the eye brow, cheek, nasolabial fold and upper neck.  Although application of this new technique does not replace conventional face lift, it does provide minimally invasive, less aggressive approach with very small hidden scars and a short recovery time.

WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR CONTOUR THREAD LIFT?

Both men and women who want a more youthful look, yet not a full face lift procedure are good candidates. Ideal candidates are in their thirties or forties with mild drooping of the tissues of the brow, face and neck. Patients with very heavy skin and excessive fat deposits, and those with very thin and fragile skin are not good candidates.

During your initial consultation, a thorough evaluation of your face will be performed to ascertain suitability of this technique. Contour threads may also be employed for brow lift along with conventional face lift procedure.

THE PROCEDURE

The procedure employs specially designed threads made of clear polypropylene. The lift is accomplished by a section of this thread that is barbed, and is strategically placed underneath the skin through tiny incisions hidden in the hair line, using a needle system that inserts the thread in precise location. The barbs then lift the sagged tissue and anchor it in a re-suspended more youthful location. Usually two contour threads are needed for each eyebrow in eyebrow lifting, three for nasolabial fold for each side and two for each side of neck lift. Cost of contour threads, which at this time is very high, may be a negative factor for some patients.

The procedure can be performed under local anesthesia with IV sedation and patient may go home the same day. Some swelling and ecchymosis can be expected that disappears in a few days.

YOUR NEW LOOK

So far, the results of this technique have been very pleasing and natural looking. Because this technique is very new, we cannot be sure how long the results will last, though it is expected that they can last 7-8 years similar to a face lift.
