LASER RESURFACING

Effects of aging, exposure to sun, wind and toxins and hereditary factors take their toll on the appearance of your skin. It is not as smooth as it was in your adolescence. At first, fine lines appear near the eyes, around the lips, the forehead and across the cheeks. Then, as the collagen beneath our skin wears out, these creases gradually deepen and facial skin begins to loosen and sag. Surface irregularities such as pigmentations and acne scarring may also occur. You wish to look the way you feel inside and this requires reversing some of the visible signs of aging and environmental damage to your facial skin.

Cosmetic Laser Resurfacing, also called “laser peel” is a revolutionary new procedure that smoothes the facial skin by using a laser to refinish damaged skin, removes fine wrinkles, and corrects areas of uneven pigmentation. End result is a fresher, smoother complexion and more youthful-appearing skin.

CO2 AND ERBIUM YAG LASERS

Two main types of lasers are being used for skin resurfacing - CO2 laser and Erbium YAG laser. There are many distinct differences between these two lasers. CO2 is most effective in treating white Caucasian skin type. However, CO2 laser are prone very unpredictable results and post laser complications in darker Asian and African skin types. The Erbium YAG laser is safer, more accurate and less painful and is especially recommended in darker skin types.

THE PROCEDURE

Erbium laser skin resurfacing is a procedure specifically designed to remove superficial and moderately deep lines and wrinkles on the face. Erbium YAG laser gently and comfortably vaporizes the damaged skin cells layer by layer without heating or burning surrounding tissues. It also stimulates the production of collagen, resulting in tightening and smoothing of the skin.

The procedure can be performed under local anesthesia with IV sedation in order make the patient comfortable.  Patient is discharged the same day.  Redness and swelling is much less and healing more rapid than CO2 laser. In most cases patients are fully recovered and back to fully activity within 8-10 days.

RECOVERY AND RESULTS

Over next few weeks your fresh, new, pink skin will fade to a normal skin tone revealing a softer, smoother, younger look. There will be significant improvement in the tone and texture of your skin. Using sun protection and a skin care regimen will help to maintain your results for a longer period. The laser treatment can be repeated after several years to restore your rejuvenated look.
